Molecular identification of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cubense Workshop held at GDASS

        From May 7 to 16, 2018, Molecular Identification of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cubense Workshop, funded and hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), organized by the Institute of Fruit Tree Research, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GDAAS), co-organized by the Agricultural Biological Gene Research Center, was held at GDAAS, with the participation of 13 plant disease quarantine technicians from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and other relevant countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The workshop was executed by members of the banana gene improvement team of the GDAAS Institute of Fruit Tree Research. The experts trained in VCG analysis, pathogenicity identification and resistance evaluation, and combined the training with field investigation and laboratory operations. Through the training, the trainees mastered the principle and method of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cubense identification. FAO official Othman Yusof spoke highly of training quality, expressed gratitude for GDAAS' efficient organization, and added that FAO would further deepen cooperation with GDAAS to organize more training, declare South-South cooperation projects and promote the sustainable development of the banana industry.
